Am I Eligible?

Thank you for your interest in Dunbar Area Little League.  We hope the information herein helps you determine your eligibility to play in our league.

There are two areas of criteria that determines whether you are eligible to play Little League Baseball:  (1) your age and (2) where you live.

Lets start with the easy one...your age.  We accept anyone to play that is aged 4-12.  You can get specific details about how league age is determined using our Age Requirements page.

If you fit into the age group above, then Little League uses two criteria to determine your geographic eligibility.  You only need to meet one of these two criteria to be able to play for Dunbar Area.  First, if your child goes to one of the following schools, you are eligible to play for Dunbar Area LL:

  • A.G. Montessori School in Uniontown
  • AJ McMullen Middle School
  • Ben Franklin School
  • Chestnut Ridge Christian Academy
  • Clark Elementary School
  • Head Start of Fayette County
  • Head Start Mill Run School
  • Lafayette School
  • Hatfield Elementary School
  • Laurel Highlands Middle School
  • Marclay School
  • Marshall Elementary School
  • Sickle Ridge School
  • Springfield CNP Elementary
  • St Johns the Evangelist Regional Catholic School in Uniontown
  • Wharton Elementary School

Now, for the geography criteria.  Here is a map that defines our boundaries:

If you live within these boundaries or if your child's school is within these boundaries (even if we neglected to list it above), you are eligible to play for Dunbar Area.  Here are some textual descriptions of our boundary:

  • If you live in Springfield township, you are good to play with us
  • South of Springfield Township, our boundary follows the Yough River / Yough Dam to Maryland border.
  • Our southern boundary is then the Maryland / West Virginia border until you get to Skyline Drive and then following Skyline Drive until you get to route 40 and goes west to Uniontown.
  • Our western boundary is a little more complex.  From route 40, it then follows 119 around the western side of Uniontown, up Route 51 until you reach Laurel Hill Road and then heads East.  From that point, you better refer to the map for the streets it follows north of 119 until it gets to Crawford Elementary and then heads down Oglevee Lane, crosses 119 near Dunbar Distributing and connects to the Youghiogheny River and flows down the Yough until you get back to Springfield Township.
  • In addition to the above, we also welcome kids from the California area to play in our league.
